REYA Wraps Up Year-End Academic Quizzing and Christmas Gift Program!

On December 21, 2023, Rescue Youth Alliance (REYA) concluded its year-end celebrations with an exciting Academic Quizzing Competition and Christmas Gift Program at the Excellent Learning Foundation Academy (ELFA) in Old Matadi District #9, Montserrado County, Monrovia. This one-day event brought together around 100 students from grades six through nine to celebrate their academic achievements and spread holiday cheer.

The event was a perfect blend of education and fun. The academic quiz tested students’ knowledge across several subjects, including Language Arts, Liberian Civics, Vocabulary, and Christmas-themed questions. Each time a student answered a question correctly, they were rewarded with a festive Christmas gift package, which included a bag, a hat, biscuits, and stick candies. In total, 24 students walked away as winners, enjoying their well-deserved gifts.

The highlight of the day came when Hellen Victor, a seventh-grade student, was recognized for answering the most questions correctly. As a special reward, she received an additional 1,000 Liberian Dollars (approximately $5 USD) for her exceptional performance.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including the Principal of ELFA, Mr. Ouharol Rahim Barzon, and members of the REYA team, such as CEO Amb. Sylvester C. Choloplay, Precious Ishmeala Menkor, and Morris Tardeh.

In his address, CEO Sylvester C. Choloplay encouraged the students to stay focused on their studies during the festive season. He reminded them that the academic journey doesn’t stop for the holidays and that staying engaged would help them return to school in 2024 with renewed energy and readiness to succeed.

This year-end event also marked the completion of a program worth 8,650 Liberian Dollars (approximately 45 USD), which covered the gift packages and the financial appreciation for the top performer.

REYA has always been committed to fostering academic excellence and leadership skills in youth. This event is part of a broader initiative that includes not only quizzing competitions but also leadership programs, financial support for students, and many other initiatives aimed at uplifting Liberia’s youth.

As we look to 2024, REYA plans to expand similar programs to other schools, continuing our mission to support academic growth and inspire the next generation of leaders. Our CEO, Amb. Sylvester Choloplay, encouraged the students to remain studious and focused on their education, reminding them that achieving their dreams requires consistent effort and dedication.

At REYA, we are proud to contribute to the academic and personal growth of young people, and we look forward to more successful events in the future. Together, we are building a brighter future for Liberia’s youth!
